About the Author
Anita Bean is an accomplished sportsperson, one of the UK's most respected nutritionists and a bestselling author. She is the author of The Complete Guide to Sports Nutrition, Sports Nutrition for Women, Food for Fitness, Healthy Eating for Kids and The Complete Guide to Strength Training, among other titles.

As a runner starting his first marathon in London 2018, I wanted something to broaden my horizons when it came to home cooking and baking. Anita's book provides an excellent variety of carefully thought-out recipes relevant for runners (and anybody, really!). The instructions are clear and this shows in the results when I've been following the recipes. Most importantly, they're delicious! Anita explains how nutrition relates to running in a range in contexts, from amateur to more serious competitors. Finally, the options given for the recipes allow you to experiment and see what suits you. It makes cooking fun!-Liam O.
I bought this book to try and find some more information out about pre-run fuelling etc (having seen a presentation by Anita at the London Marathon Expo this year). Wow, this has changed how I look at my food, wonderful recipes that are easy to make and taste delicious, so healthy too.The information about calorific intake, pre-run fuelling and hydration is brilliant, well laid out and perfect for anyone running over 10k distance. The breakfast ideas (something I always struggle with pre-race) are brilliant, the smoothies and post-run recovery stuff are spot on. I am yet to try the energy balls but they look amazing. I really like how each meal breaks down the nutritional values in protein, fat (saturates as well), carbs and fibre, tells me all I need to know about what I am eating Well worth the investment in my opinion (my kids are also trying the meals - 1 of them is so awkward but loved the Turkey Pilaf especially) -Hutley
A fabulous book with easy to implement plans and strategies. I have Anita’s Vegetarian Athlete cookbook too and would recommend both. It’s wonderful to come across a U.K. dietician and Athlete, who explains and plans healthy meals that cover all the bases when you are training. I had been struggling with feeling sluggish. However, within a week of making some changes along with the meal plans, I found I had more energy and was sleeping better again.I know I will return to it again and again. Very user friendly, tasty filling food and easily accessible ingredients.-Jane Whitzend
