Prison Ramen: Recipes and Stories from Behind Bars |
Moment ramen is an omnipresent food, cherished by anybody searching for a modest, delicious nibble—including detainees, who get it at the store and use it as the structure hinder for a wide range of suppers. Think about this as an exceptional cookbook of ramen hacks. Here's Ramen Goulash. Dark Bean Ramen. Onion Tortilla Ramen Soup. The Jailhouse Hole Burrito. Orange Porkies—bean stew ramen in addition to white rice in addition to ½ pack of pork skins in addition to orange-enhanced punch. Ramen Nuggets. Slice's J-Walking Ramen (with scallions, Sriracha hot sauce, and minced pork).
Coauthors Gustavo "Goose" Alvarez and Clifton Collins Jr. are beloved companions—one an ex-con, presently free and living in Mexico, and the other a profoundly fruitful Hollywood character entertainer who's enrolled companions and big names to contribute their plans and stories. Disregard elegant expounding on valuable, natural fixings—these accounts are a first-individual, firsthand look inside jail life, a terrified straight reality to supplement the strange plans.

Read it in one sitting, short stories that pretty much inspire the Ignorant people on the outside to open there eyes and realise people behind bars are not monsters. Totally blown away will read again and try the recipes ... Had to make noodles half way through reading lol :p-Domo
This book was a small gift for my boyfriend - while he isn't in jail, he is a big fan of the show Brooklyn Nine Nine where one episode is based around prison commissary and trading ramen, so a novelty gift for him. But it exceeded the novelty, the stories are a fascinating read, recipes creative, and to my surprise, the book was signed by the author! We both love it now.-Harvey
My friend in prison appreciated this. He says the pork rinds as meat in your ramen is a great idea... but he misses real food. Like a lot.-Ali
