The photographs in this cookbook are so luscious that I audibly gasped when I turned some of the pages. The recipes are loosely grouped around different occasions where you might want to bring over a dish: new baby, potluck supper, sick friend, invitation to friend's house. The selections appear to be things that the author enjoys preparing and each recipe has a brief anecdote to go with it along with a beautiful photograph. This is definitely a cookbook for people who like to sit around reading cookbooks. But the recipes are not difficult or fussy. You can make these! I made the Chopped Nicoise Salad (with her Versatile Vinaigrette) tonight. It was delicious and her recipe makes enough to bring a fair amount to a potluck or serve to a large crowd. Her gazpacho is also delicious. She includes a few cake recipes that use prepared mix as a base as well as cake recipes from scratch (like Fudge Cake and Carrot Cake). I definitely want to try making the Key Lime Bars with Macadamia Crust, the White Bean and Kale Soup, and the Mediterranean Layer Dip. --Karen Wilber
My daughter entertains all the time and attends many social gatherings requiring her to "bring something." She loves this cookbook. I heard about it on the Radio and immediately thought of her. Come to find out, one of her neighbors has a recipe published in it! --Keysgirl
I am really enjoying this cookbook. I made the Roasted Cashews with Rosemary for a Christmas Party and they were a hit with everyone. The recipes are not overly complicated which encourages me to try them. For each recipe there is at least one picture of the completed dish and for each occasion ("Potluck" "Bringing Home Baby" etc) all of the dishes for the occasion are styled together, which gives me ideas of how to serve the dishes I make. I am from the South and the recipes in this cookbook are familiar and comforting to me as are the occasions. --Elizabeth Garret
There are so many "usable" recipes that I can't wait to try. This is a cookbook that I will refer to often I'm sure. The photos are beautiful and the recipes are easy to follow. I have already bookmarked many recipes and I just received it two days ago. BTW...I'm also enjoying reading the history and comments about each recipe. --Omoji
