The ingredients can seem intimidating at first read, but most are now readily available in the international aisle of major grocery stores as well as at global-minded chains like Trader Joes and Whole Foods. I am also a cook book addict and Love cooking foods from all over the world. This book succeeds in many ways! First off it is beautiful to look at it which is so important when first choosing a recipe if you are a visual person. Secondly, many of the recipes are easy to make and then there are some challenging ones as well, which if you love to cook, is always an added delight and something to look forward to! And thirdly, the recipes are delicious! Anyone who enjoys the Ottolenghi cookbooks will see where working with him (which one of the authors has done) has influenced the food and that is a wonderful thing! There are the occasional unusual ingredients but isn't that one of the magic things about cooking? Discovering new flavors and textures??? I am buying a copy for a Vegetarian friend of mine who also adores food and is an accomplished cook because 85% of the recipes have no meat in them and many can be converted easily to veggie fare...
