Sweet Potatoes: Roasted, Loaded, Fried, and Made into Pie

Pressed with nutrients and minerals, low on the glycemic list, brimming with solid fiber, filling, delightful, advantageous, and simple to set up, the yam is the enhanced "it" vegetable.

Praised by food sweethearts for their heavenly taste and adaptability, celebrated by paleo diet acolytes for their superfood status, these root veggies are prevailing upon Americans right and left. Yams has 60 plans for strikingly seasoned, sweet potato-centered dishes, going from straightforward snacks to courses, pastries, and heated merchandise. Likewise included is a glossary of various yam assortments (they aren't all orange; there are white and purple ones, as well), fundamental plans sharing the least complex of arrangements that all home cooks should know (simmering, preparing, searing), and 30 full-shading photos.

I love this book! It has recipes my kids love and it gives them a reason to eat sweet potatoes without complaining---in fact they beg for some of the recipes. I was not going to buy the book but I am so glad I did. The recipes are simple and straightforward and have ingredients that you either have around the house or can get easily at the store. The only thing I hope the next edition has is nutritional information because we have a few on special diets. Thanks for writing it. --Fossil

From cinnamon rolls to miso soup to tacos to pairings with chimichurri, this book has so many creative ways to load up on nutritious sweet potatoes. I never get bored trying all of the different recipes in this book and each one I have made has been so good! --Madeline

Sweet Potatoes by Mary-Frances Heck is a wonderfully unique collection of recipes that are artfully crafted and deliciously presented. I really enjoyed testing and tasting these and would recommend this book highly to anyone looking for elevated flavors. The author was featured recently in the Wall Street Journal and is clearly a rising star. --Robert
