I have many cookbooks and was excited to order Heirloom by Anna Gass because it promised to be authentic and easy to follow unique recipes and ingredients you have in your kitchen. The illustrations are magnificent and directions easy. A LOT of time, talent and energy went into this beautifully crafted book. I've known Anna for years and she is not just a cook but a chef, creates tasty dishes and easy to make meals for her family. It's a must have. So much so that I bought one for my sister-in-law. Love it Anna and thanks for sharing your talent with us.-Rusty
Every family has their "go to" recipes with familiar spices and cooking methods and this book is a window into the traditions of the heritage of other cultures . I have made several of the recipes and while they have turned out terrific, it's the story that goes along with each one adds a wonderful personal insight. This book makes perfect gift for the cook who thinks "I don't need another cookbook"-CT8331
Amazing book, I couldn't buy just one! There are cookbooks I go to for recipes, others I read like the best nonfiction about people's stories, cultures, and countries, and still others that I keep for their appeal as "objects" because they're so beautiful and evocative in their photography and design. This book is unusual in that it covers ALL the bases. I bought a copy for myself and then had to buy more to give as gifts to friends and family who fall all over the food spectrum--from hard core foodies to low-key cooks with a taste for travel. The recipes are fantastic. The immigrant stories read like a history of the United States. Andrew Scrivani's photography is at its best. -Enginebooks
