Midwest Made Big, Bold Baking from the Heartland

Midwest Made Big, Bold Baking from the Heartland

A Love Letter to America's Heartland, the Great Midwest
With regards to characterizing what we know as all-American preparing, everything from Bundt cakes to brownies have roots that can be followed to the incomparable Midwest. German, Scandinavian, Polish, French, and Italian settler families heated their way to the American Midwest, ingraining in it pies, breads, treats, and cakes that figure out how to feel unmistakably home-developed.

After over a time of living in California, creator Shauna Sever rediscovered the celebrated, straightforward joys of home heating in her Midwestern kitchen. This one of a kind assortment of in excess of 125 plans incorporates revived top choices and new treats:

Rhubarb and Raspberry Swedish Flop
Danish Kringle
Mystery Ingredient Cherry Slab Pie
German Lebkuchen
Scotch-a-Roos
Smoky Cheddar-Crusted Cornish Pasties

. . . and that's only the tip of the iceberg, which will cause any kitchen to feel like a Midwestern home.

Made the Chocolate Chip cookies right off, my personal standard test of baking books. Passed with Flying colors. Next up was the Danish Kringle , just wonderful. I really like her approach to baking and the ease of her very clear non fussy approach. Am looking forward to using this book and know it will be one I use often. Just delighted.-twopups
This is everything a Midwest cookbook should be. Chicago seems to be the Midwest of the author; Minnesota seems to be the heart of the Midwest to me. But the baking is almost everything I remember. It is the best from the Midwest. The author prefaces recipes with notes about the recipe; this is a style I really like. Recipes are easily understandable and contain tips you cannot get enough of--such as shaking the buttermilk really well.I have an extensive collection of cookbooks, and if you find one good recipe, you consider it a pretty good cookbook. This has so many good recipes that it far exceeds being a good cookbook. Photos are lovely; I do wish there were more food photos--this is always a desire of mine. But I enjoy the nostalgia photos as much as the food recipes.-Joseph
Got this yesterday and I’ve used almost a whole pack of post it page markers on it. Limpa, Schaum Torte, and Swedish Flop in one book! Not to mention all the other yummy-looking stuff. Looks like a nice book full of good recipes - reminds me of my childhood in Chicagoland. Hope to start baking soon.-knitterbaker
