Superfoods sometimes intimidate me as they seem exotic, expensive and not always easy to obtain. This book demonstrates that superfoods are more abundant and available than you might think. It details the 90 most nutrient-dense foods and is a visual guide to what they contain and how to use them. It is NOT primarily a recipe book. If you need to be motivated to eat more Superfoods, this book should do that for you. It teaches you how to eat for healthy gut, better sleep, more brain power, more immunity, glowing skin and energy. The book recommends that you eat 3-4 Superfoods every day. It inspired me to eat more foods I eat rarely and to finally try some new Superfoods.
The books is very pleasing visually and walks you through the 90 Superfoods in an entertaining way. I made a list of the Superfoods I most wanted to ensure I was eating fairly regularly: barley, raspberries, oats, brown rice, avacado, banana, sweet potato, broccoli, lemon, carrots, yogurt, butternut squash, red cabbage, dried beans, lentils, fresh tomatoes, bell peppers, apples, plums pineapple, cumin, cinnamon. I want to try pomegranate juice and quinoa. A daily diet which makes sense for me: Breakfast ~ yogurt & kefir and banana topped with raspberries and chopped nuts Lunch ~ oatmeal topped with cinnamon Dinner: Mixed greens with carrots, red cabbage, tomatoes, bell peppers, avacado, egg, chicken OR Ground turkey or ground chicken cooked with onion, carrots, black beans, bell peppers combined with tomatoes, avacado, slivers of kale, spinach in a spinach taco shell with cumin seasoning on turkey or ground turkey made into meatballs with oatmeal, peppers, onions, eggs cooked in oven and put in tomato sauce with veggies like spinach, zucchini, carrots etc. or brown rice with chicken-veggie stir fry. Snacks: plums, sweet potato fries, pomegranate juice, apples, pineapples or lentil soup, vegetable with chicken soup, carrot soup, tomato soup etc.-L.M.Keefer
Nice reference book. It’s got a page dedicated to various foods and an explanation of the benefits, nutritional contents, ideas of how to use/cook it etc. So for example if you are looking for cancer fighting foods, you can easily go to the index and it list the foods and where they are in the book. There are some great recipes too. I go back and forward to this book as it’s easy to quickly flick through to find out information. It’s well written and easy to follow. The illustrations are great and appealing to me being a very visual person. I think it’s a good addition to have in your collection.-Spangerlyechops
