About the Author

Justin also teaches wonderfully oddball kitchen hacks as the host of F&W's video series Mad Genius Tips, for which he was nominated for a prestigious James Beard Award. In addition, Justin is the author of F&W's cookbook, Mad Genius Tips: Over 90 Expert Hacks and 100 Delicious Recipes. Justin joined FOOD & WINE in 2010 as an Assistant Event Coordinator, helping produce the FOOD & WINE Classic in Aspen. Before joining FOOD & WINE, he graduated from the French Culinary Institute and worked under chef Alain Allegretti in New York City. Justin appears regularly on NBC's Today Show.
What an incredible book!! The chapter on party foods and snacks is worth the price of the book! That chapter, combined with the lessons on "En papillote" make this cookbook invaluable. BTW, you haven't lived until you've made Justin Chapple's recipe for Coq au vin blanc -- utterly delicious!! In a short time, this book has become my go-to for practically everything. My wife (a great cook) says this is the best cookbook she has ever had, altho some of the recipes are not exactly on the healthy side. (But sometimes that's what makes them good!) --Delta Sigma 

I've only had this about a week, but it's so great. I don't cook a lot, want to cook more, and a lot of these recipes are good for dipping your toe in the water yet still making something simple. Steaming fish in parchment packets...who knew this was so simple yet so amazing! I LOVE the personal stories in here too, about Justin's Grandma and his Sister...it wasn't too "goopish", but made it personal. I can't wait to try everything. --Kristi Jo
