Treme: Stories and Recipes from the Heart of New Orleans

Treme: Stories and Recipes from the Heart of New Orleans

Motivated by David Simon's honor winning HBO arrangement Treme, this festival of the culinary soul of post-Katrina New Orleans highlights plans and recognitions from the characters, genuine and anecdotal, who feature the Crescent City's rich foodways. From culinary specialist Janette Desautel's own Crawfish Ravioli and LaDonna Batiste-Williams' Smothered Turnip Soup to the city's best Sazerac, New Orleans' cooking is a mélange of impacts from Creole to Vietnamese, without a moment's delay new and old, proper and down-home, and, in the expressions of Toni Bernette, "prepared with heavenly sentimentality." As outwardly rich as the arrangement itself, the book incorporates 100 legacy and contemporary plans from the city's proclaimed cafés, for example, Upperline, Bayona, Restaurant August, and Herbsaint, in addition to unique plans from famous gourmet specialists Eric Ripert, David Chang, and other Treme visitor stars. For the 6 million who come to New Orleans every year for its food and music, this is a definitive praise to the conventions that make it one of the world's most prominent urban areas.
