I wish I had been given this book when I got married. It has DOZENS of color photos of vegetables, herbs, spices, legumes and how they can be used together. The information on herbs and spices has been invaluable and encouraged me to be creative with them. The recipes are easy to follow, not terribly complicated or exotic, just wholesome food. Can't wait to try one of the curries!-Jill Douglas
I absolutely love this book. I'm at a point where I'm transitioning from the yucky standard American Diet into clean eating, wholesome foods and less animal protein (the husbands eats meat once a week) and I was very frustrated in the whole processes. I know how to cook but I always made dinners that always included an animal protein so I was stuck on how to cook without it. I looked at several books and this one finally gave me what I needed. I've made about 12+ recipes and none of them have disappointed. They are full of flavor with tons of vegetables, and whats awesome is that every recipe comes with an option to add an animal protein. It's great for those days when you feel like eating fish or chicken etc. It comes with lovely photos and introduction on the various vegetable groups, and some prep/cutting techniques as well. I also love the featured vegetable sections where she takes one veggie and makes it 4 different ways. There's Asian, Greek, Latin, Indian etc, recipes. Also pizzas, turnovers, rice, noodle, soup, etc types of recipes. I love it so much I've been cooking one recipe each night for dinner for over 2 weeks. This book is teaching me how to be vegetarian and I love it. I recommend it to everyone now.-Wendy
When you start thinking about vegetables, you either react badly to it or wonder why you are always stuck on the same veggies all the time. I used to have an aversion on certain vegetables like brussels sprouts for example. But that was before I met my husband and he cooked some that were simply delicious. Besides, everything goes well with salsa. Anyhow, when I saw this cookbook in the Food and Drink Boutique at DK Canada, I knew that it would be a good cookbook to have around simply because it was solemnly dedicated to vegetables. With over 200 delicious and satisfying recipes which put vegetables as the star attraction, I was sure to be able to find some that my family would like to try. This cookbook is ingenious in a way because not only would it appeal to vegetarians but it give great side dish ideas for those of us who like meat and seafood. Talking about meat and seafood, this cookbook also suggests the meat, fish or seafood that could be great to accompany the dish you are planning to do.-Isabelle
