At My Grandmother's Table: Heartwarming Stories and Cherished Recipes from the South

What might you give for an evening in your grandma's kitchen?

Hanging over the ledge, you looked as she included the flour?just a little at a time?to the bowl of her old, yellow Sunbeam stand blender. To her, cooking may have been as natural as preparing the table. To you, it appeared to be practically similar to magic?the way she capably set up things to make the delectable dinners and stand-out pastries you appreciated at her table. Likely, it's her culinary joys that have set the bar for all that you've eaten since. Also, let's be honest, her seared pork hacks and home-prepared banana bread make any other individual's forms could not hope to compare. In the event that you wind up wanting for only somewhat more time in your grandma's kitchen?complete with her accounts and the recollections of the consoling top picks she affectionately made for you?you're certain to grasp this festival of grandma's cooking. She'd be glad!

It's as if I'm underneath my great aunt Ada's kitchen table and nana, great aunt Juey, aunt Doris, mama and cousins Carolann and GayLyn talking about food, memories, laughter and their rich southern accents surround you like molasses... it's read about the wonderful women in my family who gone now but mama and I --Denelle

I found this at my local library and ordered it before I even had to return it. I love the stories told about the recipes and those who contributed them. I have done the same over the years for my daughters and hope they enjoy it as much I have these. My mom is gone but her handwritten recipes live on. Yes, I sometimes cry when I look at them and remember the good times we had making them, but I am so blessed to have such wonderful memories. That is what this book evokes for me. I love Grana's Grown-up Mac and Cheese, Squash Casserole and Broccoli Cheese Soup among others. I also got the companion At My Grandmother's Knee as well. Both are wonderful and will be passed to my daughters with notations in both books of when I made them, who was there and my own little stories throughout. Cookbooks are time capsules. Write in yours and make it special! --L.G.M

This book is great. I had checked it out at my local library & ended up ordering it for myself. It does have a lot of recipes that call for box cake mixes but they are all great recipes. A mix of desserts & savory dishes. I have 4 kids & we enjoy quick things we can whip up & most things we have on hand. --Tessa
