About the Author
Dubbed 'baker to the stars', Lily Jones has been selling her cakes under the name Lily Vanilli since 2009. She opened her first bakery in 2011 on Columbia Road in East London. She runs a cake and cocktail private members club and is one of the founders of The YBF Awards. She is also the author of A Zombie Ate My Cupcake.This book is brilliant. Not only are the recipes very easy to follow, but they are a success time after time. I have never failed with a Lily Vanilli recipe. The book has a good variety of cakes, biscuits etc to make, each of them are fun and often with a twist on the traditional. Very pleased - have bought it as a present for friends and family many times.-Darren Johnson
This is a fantastic book. Lily's baking has a unique style, which I love. Her recipes are high quality, well written, and the results are full of flavour. They are modern and creative (there's nothing twee or boring in here), but easy to follow and reliable. The book also includes a lot of information about how different baking methods work, and tips to ensure that everything turns out well. As someone with a science background, I really appreciate this kind of information, but you definitely don't need a science background to appreciate it, as it's written in a very accessible way. Another plus is that the food styling and photography are lovely, which contributes to making it a very enjoyable read (it's a terrible let down of a good recipe book when the photography is poor). I use this book all the time, and would wholeheartedly recommend it.-Jessica Stanley
This is a brilliant baking book with some amazing sweet and savoury recipes from simple scones to elaborate cakes and sugar craft projects. Really easy to follow with captivating illustrations and informative ingredient info too which makes more sense of the methods. Guide on subbing certain types of sugar is really helpful.
It is simply amazing but fool proof if you follow the recipes. I especially recommend trying the spelt scones and the olive oil cake with rosemary. Buy it now!-JSB
